My First Day

By Carl Mangrum

Up in the night thinking
About my first day
Like a soldier at war
Thinking about his child’s birthday

I’m super excited like a child at
A theme park
And so anxious
As if I’m running for President

And super hungry like a cow
Without any grass

In my mind
I ask million of questions
And have thousands of thoughts

Finally I fall asleep
But When I awake
I feel the warm feeling of the sun on my skin
The songs of birds in my ears

I know it’s time to get up
But I don’t want to move
But I hop up instantly like a kangaroo

It’s my first day of work
Similar to school
But this is something I want to do
Which is way cooler than school

So I get up
And start my day
